How do I get Objective for iPhone on my device?

You can find Objective for iPhone by browsing the Productivity category in the App Store or by searching for the term Objective for iPhone.

Objective for iPhone is downloadable from Apple's App Store either directly from your phone or via iTunes.

IMPORTANT: Your Objective server MUST be licensed for Mobile access.

What version of the Objective server do I need?

Objective for iPhone is compatible with Objective 7.4 and above.

It is also compatible with Objective 7.3.2/WebTalk 1.6 (without Approvals functionality). The recommendation is Objective 7.4 and above.

How do I log in?

Obtain the address for your WebTalk server from your Objective Administrator and enter the server details on the login screen along with your login id and password.

What if I can't connect to the Objective server?

Firstly, ensure that your iPhone is connected to the Internet either via Wifi or 3G.

If your Objective server is only accessible from the Internet via VPN ensure that VPN is ON.

Ensure that your Objective server details, including login id and password, were entered correctly.

If you still cannot connect, contact your Objective Administrator or nominated support contact for assistance.

How do I report a bug or an enhancement?

You can contact your Objective Administrator or nominated support contact to formally lodge a support request with the details of the bug or enhancement.

Alternatively, you can contact us using the contact form. While we endeavour to address requests directly from our customers' end-users, we cannot guarantee responses at an individual level.

If you are an Objective Administrator or nominated support contact, please log in to http://support.objective.com to lodge your request.

How can my organisation purchase a Mobile license for Objective?

If you an existing Objective customer, contact your nominated Objective Client Executive for assistance.

How can I change my Objective for iPhone connection details?

From the Settings menu, click on Logout.

What are the folders shown on the landing screen?

From the landing screen you can browse the Objective Global Folder, your Home folder, or your Handy folder.

If you have selected a Media folder from the Settings screen, a media folder will also be shown.

Some organisations choose to rename the Objective Global Folder. In this instance you will see whichever name this folder was given by your Objective Administrator.

Finally, you can access your recently opened documents from the Recent Documents folder. This folder only appears in Objective for iPhone.

Which version of a document do I see when I open a document?

You will see the latest version that you have permissions to see whether it is published or in draft.

Can I view the properties of a document?

Yes, you can view basic properties of document, including any available renditions.

What does the Star button do?

Whenever you open a document or a folder, you will have the ability to bookmark it by touching the star button on the title bar. This will add a reference to the document or folder to Favourites.

Touching the star icon again will remove the document or folder from Favourites.

Why don't I see a folder for Media?

By default, your Home folder is the designated media folder. If you choose a different folder for media (from Settings), not already on the landing screen, you will see an additional Media folder in the landing screen.

When uploading media, why do I get a permission error even though I have create permissions to my Media folder?

Your Objective Administrator may have configured content type restrictions on the folder type or modified the creators on the base document type. Contact your Objective Administrator for assistance.

How do I access documents awaiting my approval?

Once logged in, you can select the Approvals tab on the bottom of the screen to view your Approvals in-tray.

Why can't I see the approvals tab?

Approvals are only available when connecting to Objective Server 7.4 or later.

How do I approve or reject a document?

Once you open a document awaiting your approval from your Approvals in-tray, click on the Action button on the top right hand side to Approve or Reject the document.

Can I manage my Handy with Objective for iPhone?

The Handy can be used in the normal way for quick access to common files and documents. However it cannot be edited or changed. Objective for iPhone contains a new Favourites feature which allows you to manage access to common files from your iPhone.

How is Favourites different to Handy?

Favourites are bookmarks specific to your phone. Unlike Handy, they are not configured on the server. You must have permission to open a document to be able to bookmark it in Favourites. You can still access your Handy objects by navigating to the Handy folder from the landing screen.

How do I add things to Favourites?

You can add documents or folders to Favourites by activating the star button on the title bar once you open them.

How do I remove items from Favourites?

You can remove items by activating the Edit button on the title bar and touching the delete icon adjacent to each item in the list.

Can I rearrange things in Favourites?

You can rearrange items by activating the Edit button on the title bar and holding down the Move icon while dragging it to the desired position.

What settings can I alter?

You can alter the way that search works by choosing either name-only or full-content text searches.

You can alter the size before triggering a Renditions Check

You can alter upload settings such as the folder to upload media to, whether or not to publish the media documents or alter the quality of images uploaded.

What is Renditions Check?

Whenever you open a document that has renditions available and its size exceeds the threshold set in Renditions Check, Objective for iPhone will ask whether you'd prefer a rendition of the document instead of the original.

How do I select a Media folder?

To change the default Upload folder, you will need to know the object id of the folder to be used as the new upload folder. You can find out the id of a folder by looking its Properties either in Objective for iPhone or Objective Navigator.

You then select Custom under the Upload Settings to enter the id of the new folder.

What are the Image Quality settings?

You can reduce the quality of the images uploaded to Objective.

There are 3 settings: High, Medium and Low. High is the maximum quality and ensures that images are uploaded unmodified. Medium corresponds to 75% of the original quality and Low corresponds to 40%.
