Redcliffe City Council selects Objective to achieve continual improvement of business processes
Redcliffe City Council has selected Objective Corporation (ASX:OCL) to provide an enterprise content management solution to underpin continual business process improvement organisation-wide.
Redcliffe City Council is the Queensland local government charged with managing and servicing the city of Redcliffe. With an annual budget of approximately $72 million, the Council provides a wide-range of quality services and facilities to approximately 50,000 people.
Objective will replace an existing physical record management system to deliver broad enterprise content management comprising: electronic document and records management, drawings management and web content management. The Council will use Objective to provide a corporate information repository to facilitate effective information management and manage a range of physical and electronic information such as drawing plans and digital pictures used for construction projects of new parks and buildings.
Objective will be used enterprise-wide by 200 users including engineers, commercial and economic development people, planners, accountants, local law enforcement and surveyors.
Bob Holmes, Chief Executive Officer, Redcliffe City Council said: “As a council we need to manage a variety of information, document formats and access to this information from a corporate perspective. We required a solution that would underpin internal process improvement and fully enable electronic management of information and processes throughout the council.
“Following an extensive evaluation process Objective was selected as the preferred supplier due to its extensive search capabilities and ease of use. Objective provided us with a tool that would enable us to continually improve our business processes into the future.
“Objective will integrate with existing computer systems such as our Property system, which stores all correspondence relating to an individual property including rates notices, building applications, and noise control complaints. This will facilitate the management of corporate information between departments and reduce duplication of work which is a big saving to the council and the people of Redcliffe,” said Mr Holmes.
The diversity of delivering services across a variety of different work teams makes it vital for the Council that people are able to share information between departments. It will enable future decisions to then be fully informed.
For example, construction projects for long-term assets require various work output from several departments. This includes design production, advertising, tender preparations, evaluation team reports, construction of the actual asset by the works team and upon completion of the asset responsibility for an ongoing 30-year maintenance program.
“Objective will enhance our ability to manage these processes and most importantly share information - a major benefit that creates an open exchange of knowledge between people.
“Delivering services to the community requires shared access to corporate information organisation-wide. Currently, the search capability that the public have on agendas and reports is extremely limited. With Objective we will be able to expand the delivery of information to the public”.
Objective will support our compliance with the Queensland Public Records Act 2002, whilst providing a range of operational efficiencies throughout the council. It will provide us with a tool for continual improvement and enable us to work smarter not harder,” said Mr Holmes. -ends-
