Objective awarded prestigious enterprise contract
from UK Public Record Office
Objective Corporation (ASX:OCL) today announced it had been awarded a
contract to supply an enterprise-wide electronic records management system
(ERMS) to the Public Record Office (PRO) of the United Kingdom.
The PRO administers and preserves the public records of UK Central Government
and courts of law. It plays a pivotal role in ensuring government departments
meet the Blair government's mandate, under the Modernising Government
program, that all records will be managed electronically by 2004. It advises
government departments on best practice in records management. It defines
the functional requirements to be met by records management systems, tests
and approves systems' use for UK government agencies. The PRO will use Objective throughout the enterprise to manage its business
records, enabling it to meet both the demands of working in an electronic
environment and the 2004 target.
The ERMS will be a business-critical system for the PRO, used by all
600 staff, therefore key considerations in selecting a solution included:
 |
Ensuring the integrity of the documents, records
and associated data to be managed, and
|
 |
That it should be easy to use, maximising user
acceptance and uptake.
|
Consultants from Objective Corporation will be working closely with the
PRO project staff to deliver the solution. "Winning this contract was a significant development in Objective's European
expansion," said Mr Tony Walls, Executive Chairman of Objective Corporation.
"During the PRO's procurement process Objective faced evaluation by a
very well educated buyer and intense competition from many international
vendors," said Mr Walls.
"The PRO names 12 electronic records management systems on its list approved
for use by UK government agencies - each of which has been subject to
stringent evaluation and testing.
"To be chosen from this elite group for the PRO's own records management
requirements is a testament to not only the quality, robustness and rich
functionality of our software but our experience, expertise and capability
in delivering business outcomes, not simply technology," said Mr Walls.
