2002 Press ReleasesDate: 8 October 2002 Objective gains VERS certification from Public Record
Office Victoria
Objective Corporation today announced the Public Record Office of Victoria
(PROV) has certified its knowledge and process management solution, Objective
6i, against the Victorian Electronic Record Strategy (VERS) specification. VERS is the framework of standards for archiving electronic records created
or managed by the Victorian government. The standard is designed to ensure
these records can be accessed and read at any point in the future, regardless
of their origin, format or the software program that created them.
"The Victorian public sector is an important market for Objective,"
said Mr Tony Walls, CEO Asia Pacific for Objective Corporation. "Objective's
significant investment in research and development to ensure that our
products comply with Victorian government standards is testament to our
commitment to this market. VERS capability is now an integral part of
our product offering."
Objective 6i is the only single vendor and single product solution to
gain certification from PROV. Further, Objective 6i is available for both
web portal and traditional windows environments.
"A major advantage for Victorian government agencies is that the
certification is against Objective's core product not a VERS specific,
custom built system from multiple technology vendors," said Mr Walls.
According to Mr Walls, this presents agencies with two key benefits.
"First, the flexibility inherent within Objective 6i means that
agencies can deploy solutions that meet their specific e-government requirements
in the knowledge that any resultant records are managed in compliance
with VERS standards.
"Secondly, the fact that no customisation of the core Objective
product is required for a government agency to attain VERS compliance
reduces the cost of deployment," said Mr Walls.
"Objective 6i's portal-based browser interface means that agencies
deploying Objective across geographically dispersed sites or even those
implementing business or citizen service portals can do so in compliance
with VERS," said Mr Walls.
"With significant international presence, Objective will also help
the VERS standard gain international visibility. Wherever possible, Objective
will assist the Victorian government to maximise its return on investment
in the VERS program."
Innovating with Objective 6i
Enabling organisations to archive electronic records in compliance with
VERS standards is only one area of functionality addressed by Objective
6i, the product also offers much broader enterprise electronic document
management, workflow, web content management and knowledge management
capabilities.
Objective 6i enables organisations to manage, archive and dispose of
records - both physical and electronic. It facilitates collaborative authoring,
approval and publishing of any electronic object - word processing documents,
emails, spreadsheets, web pages, project plans, graphics files, engineering
drawings and more. Its workflow capabilities deliver the right information
to the right people at the right time according to defined business rules.
Objective 6i delivers robust, highly secure technology which has proven
capability and scalability to tens of thousands of users.
Delivering Solutions for Government
In addition to standards-compliant records management, Objective solutions
are used by many government organisations around the globe for a broad
variety of business applications including: government online, case file
management, ministerial correspondence management, enterprise document & records management, process management, web content management and
enterprise knowledge management.
"Objective solutions generally address a multitude of business problems
for each customer," said Mr Walls, "however some of the benefits
common to all include security, accountability and ubiquitous availability
of information for sound decision making."
Meeting International Standards
"100 per cent of our business is focused on delivering solutions
that help organisations solve the challenge of managing the proliferation
of electronic information and knowledge that drive today's organisations," said Mr Walls
"Part of our ongoing commitment to our industry and our customers
is to ensure that Objective's products enable organisations to comply
with various state, national and international standards for recordkeeping,
electronic document management and the move to providing government services
online."
Gaining VERS certification is another achievement for Objective Corporation.
Objective is approved by the UK Public Record Office, is certified in
accordance with the US DOD 5015.2 STD for records management applications
acquired by the US Department of Defense and has been developed to enable
organisations to meet international standard, ISO 15489, Information and
Documentation - Records Management.
Objective's software solution has been certified against VERS Specification
2, the Metadata Scheme. The company anticipates further certification
against the remaining specifications (Specifications 1 and 3) in the near
term.
