2001 Press ReleasesDate: 26th September 2001 Objective Corporation announces its next generation
technology - Objective 6i
Objective Corporation (ASX:OCL) today launched the next generation of
its
knowledge and process management technology, Objective 6i. Objective 6i extends Objective's traditional offering of electronic document
management, records management for both physical and electronic records,
web
content management and workflow. The new release provides - for the first
time -
portal-based delivery of enterprise knowledge via a web browser. Accessing
Objective 6i through a web browser facilitates server-based deployment
of
knowledge and process management throughout an organisation, decreasing
support costs and increasing ease of use. As well as a portal-based interface, Objective 6i also introduces online
real-time
collaboration, enhanced search facility, the ability to access information
from other
business systems or websites and knowledge discovery. Single point of access to enterprise information
With Objective 6i users will be able to integrate disparate information
systems, from
line-of business systems to email, from corporate document repositories
to data
from relevant websites. The user experience is greatly simplified - no
need to trawl
through multiple applications and information sources - all corporate
knowledge is
available via a single point of access. Meeting the needs of the global market, Objective 6i also features multilingual
support including Asian languages that require multi-byte characters. "Objective 6i is a significant milestone for the company," said Tony
Walls, CEO Asia
Pacific, Objective Corporation. "Objective 6i now provides the broadest
knowledge
management suite on the market and clearly positions Objective Corporation
as a
definitive leader in the knowledge management market. "In keeping with Objective's original vision, Objective 6i is a richly
functional single
product solution, built on our robust and highly secure server technology.
"In accordance with our philosophy to protect our customers' investment
in
Objective solutions, all of our customers will be provided with Objective
6i which will
be a simple upgrade for their existing Objective solutions." The Objective solution addresses an array of business challenges for
both public
and private sector organisations including: case file management; bi-directional
government and business portals; ministerial management for government;
compliant record-keeping systems; quality management and more.
High profile Objective customers include the Department of Defence, Queensland
Police Service, IP Australia and ResMed Ltd. Market demand for portal interface
According to Objective, the development of a portal-based interface is
based on
strong market demand for true, zero footprint deployment of knowledge
management solutions. Unique to Objective 6i is comprehensive support
via both a
traditional WindowsT interface and a portal based browser - to the same
information repositories. When deployed as a portal, Objective 6i will
offer
organisations many advantages. Assisting in streamlining the user experience is the introduction of
"workplaces" and
"themes". Workplaces can be customised, personalised or 'corporatised'
to suit the
role or multiple roles of users, provide users with their choice of interface
or
maintain a consistent corporate identity. Whether users are performing
processcentric
or knowledge-centric roles, Objective 6i can be customised to suit their
requirements. "Objective 6i is a significant milestone for the company," said Tony
