2001 Press ReleasesDate: 8th August 2001 Darebin City Council selects Objective Corporation
to support knowledge management strategy
Sydney AUSTRALIA --- Objective Corporation Limited (ASX: OCL) today announced
its second contract with a Victorian council. Darebin City Council in
Victoria has selected Objective Corporation to provide an Electronic Document
and Records Management System to support the Council's Knowledge Management
Strategy. Darebin City Council is one of Melbourne's largest and most populous
municipalities. It services 127,000 people and more than 55,000 properties.
As part of the analysis and planning process for their Knowledge Management
Strategy the Council identified a need for a fully integrated electronic
document management and workflow system. "Darebin City Council's vision for knowledge management and selection
of Objective to support their strategy illustrates yet again, the increasing
importance placed on managing the crucial information assets within organisations,"
said Tony Walls, Objective Corporation's CEO Asia Pacific. "Objective was selected based on our trusted market position in
delivering comprehensive information management systems to government
and our ability to demonstrate a clear vision for Knowledge Management
solutions," said Mr Walls. Darebin City Council required a corporate wide solution providing electronic
document management, physical and electronic records management, web content
management, email management, workflow and transaction-based imaging.
The solution will need to operate across all Council sites, scale for
use by the entire Council staff and provide the ability to manage both
electronic and hardcopy objects. Objective's solution will be the cornerstone supporting Darebin City
Council's Knowledge Management Strategy. It will enable the Council to
meet its goals of communication, collaboration and creation of a culture
and infrastructure for knowledge sharing. It will provide the ability
to capture knowledge through access and contribution to a comprehensive
store of corporate documents, enable cross-functional participation in
processes using workflow technology and provide employee empowerment through
de-centralised information access and control. Objective's solution continues to gain wide market acceptance as the
solution of choice in both the corporate and government sectors. In addition
to this contract with Darebin City Council, Objective has recently signed
contracts with Queensland Police Service, Frankston City Council in Victoria
and UniSuper, one of Australia's largest industry superannuation funds.
