Objective Corporation, Australia's leading provider of knowledge management solutions, today opened its Queensland office in Brisbane. Paul Lucas, Queensland's new Minister for Innovation and Information Economy was there to officially welcome the company to the Smart State.

With existing offices in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne, as well as in London and Boston, Objective's move to Queensland signifies a growing demand from organisations worldwide for tools to help them harness the power of untapped knowledge hidden in corporate information. Objective is already working with the Queensland Department of Justice and is focusing its efforts on servicing Queensland government organisations.

"Knowledge management initiatives are on the upswing as governments and companies face mounting pressure to better manage their intellectual assets," said Tony Walls, CEO, Asia Pacific, Objective Corporation. "Our aim is to increase Objective's presence in Australia by building a strong national network that will enable us to provide an efficient, more personal service to new and existing customers."

The Smart State initiative is at the heart of the Queensland government's plans for the local information technology and telecommunications industry. Its aim is to seek new opportunities to assist the state's future development and increase its economic strength and competitiveness by attracting major international IT&T companies and investment.

"The Queensland Government welcomes innovative and forward-thinking companies that bring with them the prospects of jobs and benefits for all Queenslanders. Queensland's growth as the Smart State can only proceed if the application of IT&T and innovation add to our envious standard of living," said Paul Lucas.

The bulk of Objective's business comes from government organisations with clients such as the Australian Department of Defence, the Federal Department of Transport and Regional Services and IP Australia. Large corporations such as Cable & Wireless Optus, Clyde Industries and Northparkes Mines are also using Objective's knowledge management solutions.
