AS ISO
15489
Records Management
Standards
Australia have published two Australian Standards on Records Management.
AS ISO 15489.1 Records Management - Part 1: General
AS ISO 15489.2 Records Management - Part 2: Guidelines
The standards are an Australian codification
of the International Standard on Records Management,
ISO 15489, approved in October 2001, representing
international best practice for recordkeeping.
These documents replace Australian Standard, AS
4390-1996: Records Management. They are, however,
based on AS 4390 and so there is significant continuity
between the standards.
The standard is endorsed by the National
Archives of Australia (NAA) who promote it
as a model for best practice recordkeeping throughout
Commonwealth Government departments.
